Sofia Lautrec

Après des études de cinéma, Sofia Lautrec affine sa pratique en entrant au MO.CO.ESBA, Beaux-Arts de Montpellier et en obtenant parallèlement une licence de Lettres Modernes. Ce parcours lui a permis de corréler écriture, plastique, narrativité et matériau. Sa démarche s’articule autour de la transposition matérielle de la langue, notamment la poésie.

Dans l’approche que Sofia Lautrec fait de la langue et de ses poésies, il y a la recherche de la matérialité, la texture, le toucher des mots. Pour mettre en exergue les caractéristiques profondément sensibles du travail de l’écriture comme matériau tangible, elle écrit, sculpte, transpose et retranscrit, en passant du verbe au verre et vice-versa, comme un exercice de traduction sans fin, faisant constamment évoluer le sens du poème.

Ainsi se révèlent les inhérences et relations d’interdépendance qui lient les objets à leurs dénominations.

Travailler à chaud et à froid, explorer les capacités de résistances des matériaux et des supports, sémantiques ou substantiels.

Du verre, du plomb et de la terre, des transformations caloriques, l’établissement de mythologies par le biais de narrations, de fictions et de récupération de savoirs scientifiques ou académiques. Permettant finalement de construire un univers alchimique et poétique, par l’appréhension de la matière et sa retranscription sculpturale.

Dans son écriture, Sofia Lautrec forge une poésie où le langage, le corps, le volcan et l’alchimie s’entrelacent dans une quête de matérialité. À travers ses textes, les mots deviennent tangibles, prenant forme en bulles de verre ou en espaces fragmentés. Cette approche alchimique transforme le langage en matière, révélant sa fragilité et son pouvoir.

Le volcan, symbole de force et de rupture, traverse son travail comme une métaphore du langage en éruption, prêt à jaillir ou à se taire. Le corps, lui, devient un vecteur d’expression, un espace où le mot trouve ancrage et résonance.

Sofia Lautrec donne ainsi une poésie immersive, où chaque création explore les tensions entre le visible et l’invisible, l’éphémère et le durable, et où la parole se fait tantôt souffle, tantôt feu.

Elle a exposé dans divers lieux, notamment dans des institutions telles que le MO. CO.Panacée (2023, FR) et le Musée d'art moderne de Céret (2024, FR), ainsi que dans des centres d'art tels que la BF15 (2024, en collaboration avec la Biennale de Lyon, FR), le Motoco (2023, FR) et l'artists run space Loveletter (2025, FR).

After studying cinema, Sofia Lautrec refined her practice by entering the MO.CO.ESBA, Fine Arts of Montpellier, and at the same time obtaining a degree in Modern Literature. This course allowed her to correlate writing, plastic, narrativity and material. Her approach revolves around the material transposition of language, particularly poetry.

In Sofia Lautrec’s approach to language and poetry, there is a search for the materiality, the texture, the touch of words. In order to highlight the deeply sensitive characteristics of the work of writing as a tangible material, she writes, sculpts, transposes and retranscribes, moving from the verb to the glass and back again, as an exercise in endless translation, making constantly evolve the meaning of the poem.

Thus the inherent and interdependent relationships that link objects to their names are revealed.

Working with warmth and coldness, exploring the resistant capacities of materials and supports, semantic or substantial.

Glass, lead and soil, caloric transformations, the establishment of mythologies through narratives, fictions and the recuperation of scientific or academic knowledge. Allowing finally to build an alchemical and poetic universe, through the apprehension of the material and its sculptural retranscription.

She has exhibited in a variety of venues, including institutions such as the MO.CO.Panacée (2023, FR) and the Céret Museum of Modern Art (2024, FR), as well as art centres such as the BF15 (2024, in conjunction with the Lyon Biennial, FR), the Motoco (2023, FR) and the artist-run space Loveletter (2025, FR).
